How to set lead time and safety stock honestly

  • Lead time: count from when you press order to when it's on the shelf. Add 1–2 days for late deliveries.
  • Safety stock: roughly one busy day of usage for staples (beans, milk), less for slow movers.
  • Usage: use last 30 days of real consumption, not a guess from memory.
